Follow Your Passions

People with passions live longer

We should not apologise for having our own passions . It’s what drives us to keep fit and healthy enough to enjoy life. In this Zone we explore Passions in more detail and cover some specific passions you may follow. Hopefully we also give some ideas about how you can balance the pursuit of your own passions with the other important things in your life.

Browse through the sections and why not take the QLagoon Passions Test.

Passion not Obsession

One can be passionate about red wine but it is a little unwise to become obsessed by it.

Sportsmen, on the other hand appear to be a special case, particular in today’s ultra-competitive world. They seemingly need to develop at least a faux obsession for their chosen event if they are to succeed – think of Jonny Wilkinson who spent a sizeable percentage of his young life kicking an oval ball between two poles. They cannot rely merely on a lifelong passion lending itself to a balanced existence. It is shit or bust!

Unfortunately and all too frequently, we see even the greatest sporting heroes falling hard and messily when their days in the sun are over – they lacked the Balance for Happiness because they had to!

It’s also worth noting the age of the Baby Boomer has seen ordinary people becoming passionate (nay, even obsessed) with major events – marathons and triathlons and achieving in large number great feats that were once the preserve of the elite.

Try our QLagoon Passion Test (just click alongside to take the test) and see how you fare but please also complete the other 11 Zone Tests to see how you score in our overall Happiness Engine. As we say it’s all about balance.
